Foldable iPhone Predicted to Launch in Late 2026

As excitement builds for the iPhone 17 series, rumors surrounding Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone continue to circulate. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the tech giant may release its first foldable iPhone in the final quarter of 2026.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature advanced AI capabilities with seamless cross-app integration. With a larger display, users could interact with an AI assistant for tasks like planning a trip while simultaneously checking maps—making multitasking smoother than ever.

Despite the expected price range of $2,000 to $2,500, analysts predict the device will still perform well thanks to Apple’s dedicated user base.

Design Details, Timeline, and Production Forecast

Design-wise, the device will reportedly fold like a book, boasting a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer screen. When folded, it’s expected to be 9–9.5 mm thick; when unfolded, only 4.5–4.8 mm. Due to its compact form, Face ID might be dropped in favor of Touch ID on the side button.

Component manufacturing is set to begin in late Q3 or early Q4 of 2025 by assembly partner Foxconn. Many key parts—such as the highly anticipated hinge—are still under development. The materials may include a stainless steel and titanium alloy hinge with a durable titanium casing.

Production is expected to ramp up by late 2025, with full-scale release in 2026. Ming-Chi Kuo estimates Apple may ship 3 to 5 million foldables in 2026. However, reports suggest that Apple has already placed an order for 15–20 million units, likely covering several years of sales.

Due to the foldable’s premium cost, broader shipments could extend into 2027–2028. Kuo cautions that, as with all predictions, specifications and timelines may still shift as development continues.
