Amazon is introducing a long-awaited feature that gives shoppers more flexibility — the ability to add extra items to an upcoming delivery without placing a completely new order. The new option, called “Add to Delivery,” aims to make shopping faster, simpler, and more sustainable by reducing unnecessary shipments.
When customers place an order on Amazon, they’ll now see a blue Add to Delivery button next to eligible products. If the initial delivery hasn’t yet been processed for shipment, shoppers can tap that button to include additional items in the same package.
The process is instant — no checkout, no separate payment step. And if you change your mind, there’s even an Undo option that lets you remove the item before the order is finalized.
Currently, the feature supports everyday products like groceries, pet supplies, personal care items, books, and small electronics. It’s available exclusively to Amazon Prime members in the U.S. for now, with broader rollout expected soon.
The update solves one of Amazon’s biggest everyday pain points: forgetting an item right after hitting “Place Order.” Instead of creating a new delivery (and another cardboard box), users can simply tack on what they missed.
It’s also a smart logistics move for Amazon. By encouraging consolidated deliveries, the company cuts costs, streamlines warehouse operations, and reduces packaging waste — aligning with its sustainability goals.
This feature comes alongside other logistics improvements from Amazon, such as the expansion of same-day delivery services to more than 2,000 U.S. cities and enhancements to temperature-controlled grocery deliveries.
Together, these updates signal Amazon’s broader strategy: to make online shopping so seamless and responsive that it rivals the immediacy of in-store purchases.
