The Pixel 10 Pro is the smallest, quiet upgrade of any flagship this year — and probably the best one for the type of person who buys Pixels. Tensor G5 is finally fast enough to disappear, the camera tuning is best-in-class for natural-looking output, and Google’s seven-year update commitment means this phone will outlive most of its competitors.

Camera, the case study

Pixel processing has always been the differentiator and the 10 Pro sharpens the formula. The 50MP main produces images that look like photographs first and computational composites second — handheld night shots have less aggressive sharpening than the iPhone, less aggressive saturation than Samsung, and a tonal range that holds up under scrutiny. The 5x telephoto periscope (new this year) is the highlight; previous Pixel telephoto was the lineup’s weakness.

Tensor G5, the relief

Built on TSMC 3nm — the same fab as Apple — Tensor G5 finally posts CPU benchmarks within striking distance of Snapdragon 8 Elite. More importantly, sustained performance is dramatically better; the G4’s thermal throttling is gone. Gemini Nano runs locally for translations, summarization, and the new “Help me write” features that feel genuinely useful rather than gimmicky.

Build and battery

The matte titanium frame is a real upgrade. Battery is 4,950 mAh and we got 13 hours of screen-on in mixed use — a solid hour ahead of the Pixel 9 Pro. 30W wired and 22W wireless is meh; this is not a fast-charge phone.

What you give up

Software polish is still behind iOS in small ways — third-party app launch animations stutter, the gesture nav has 50ms more lag than Apple’s, etc. None of these are dealbreakers; all are visible if you’re switching from an iPhone.

Bottom line: The most photographer-friendly flagship of 2026. If you’ve been holding off because past Pixels felt unfinished, this one is the one to come back for.
