Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data PixlRun collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and how to ask us to delete it. Plain English. No dark patterns.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Email address — only if you subscribe to our newsletter or send us a message via the contact form. We don’t ask for one to read articles.
- Comments — name and email when you leave a comment on an article (email is not displayed publicly).
Information collected automatically
- Server logs — IP address, user-agent, requested URL, timestamp, referring URL. Retained 30 days for security and abuse-prevention, then aggregated.
- Cookies and similar technology — see our Cookie Policy. In short: a small set for site functionality, plus analytics and ad cookies if you accept them.
- Analytics — page views, session duration, geographic country (not city or precise location), device type. Used in aggregate to make editorial decisions about what to cover.
Why we use it
- To deliver the newsletter you asked for, and only that newsletter
- To keep the site online and protected from bot traffic and abuse
- To measure which articles are read so we can prioritise editorial effort
- To serve advertising via Ezoic and affiliate links — see “Third parties” below
- To respond to messages you send us
We do not sell personal data. We do not share email addresses with advertisers, sponsors, or affiliate partners.
Third parties we work with
- Ezoic / Google AdSense — display advertising. Ad networks place cookies that may include behavioural targeting. You can opt out of personalised ads at youronlinechoices.com or via your cookie preferences.
- Cloudflare — content delivery, DDoS protection. Sees the same logs we see.
- Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Ezoic Ads) — when you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, the partner shares anonymous conversion data with us so we get credited. They do not receive your email or comment activity.
- Newsletter provider — used to deliver email digests. Stores your email address and engagement metrics (opens, clicks).
- Hosting provider — operates the servers in North America.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you have these rights:
- Access — ask what we hold about you
- Correction — fix anything inaccurate
- Deletion — have your data removed (newsletter unsubscribe + comment deletion + cookie purge)
- Opt-out — refuse personalised advertising at any time
If you’re in the EU/UK (GDPR), Canada (PIPEDA), or California (CCPA/CPRA), the above rights are statutory. To exercise any of them, email privacy@pixlrun.com with your request. We respond within 30 days.
Data retention
- Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe
- Server logs: 30 days, then aggregated
- Comments: indefinitely (you can request deletion)
- Analytics events: 14 months at source, aggregated forever
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe we have, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Connections use TLS. Server credentials are rotated. We do not store payment data; affiliate purchases happen on the partner’s site. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach happens that affects your data, we will notify you.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and put a notice at the top of the homepage for at least 14 days. Trivial wording fixes don’t get a notice.
