The Pixel 11 Pro is Google admitting that hardware finally matters. Tensor G6 (still TSMC 3nm but with a real GPU upgrade), an updated triple-camera array with a 1-inch main sensor borrowed from Sony’s mirrorless line, and a chassis design that’s the first Pixel that doesn’t look like a refined prototype.

The camera leap

That 1-inch main sensor (50MP, f/1.4) is a noticeable jump in shallow depth of field and low-light noise. Side-by-side with the 17 Pro Max in handheld twilight scenes, the Pixel produces cleaner images at the cost of slightly muted color — which Pixel fans will read as more accurate, and Apple fans will read as flat. Video is now genuine 4K Dolby Vision with the same frame-flag-and-render workflow Apple uses, and it works.

Tensor G6 and the Gemini story

G6’s GPU is a real generational improvement — sustained gaming at 60fps in titles that throttled to 45fps on the G5 within 8 minutes. On-device Gemini 2.5 Nano handles tasks that previously required server roundtrip, including the “Help me edit” photo feature that’s the best AI editing we’ve used.

Build and battery

Curved titanium with a sandblasted finish that hides fingerprints — feels closer to a 16 Pro Max than past Pixels. 5,100 mAh battery, 14 hours screen-on in our testing. 45W wired charging finally arrived (still slow vs OnePlus, faster than every prior Pixel).

What you give up

$1,199 puts it in flagship pricing territory where Apple and Samsung have more polished software. Pixel exclusives (Call Screen, Recorder transcription) remain killer features but the rest of the OS is still slightly clunkier than iOS or One UI.

Bottom line: The first Pixel where you don’t have to apologize for the hardware. If you’re a Pixel-curious iPhone user, this is the version to try.
