Odysee
YouTube’s algorithm and demonetization rules push some creators to look elsewhere. Odysee is built on the LBRY blockchain, hard to censor at the protocol level, and pays creators in LBC tokens instead of ad share.
Discovery is genuinely thin and the recommendation feed is much weaker than YouTube’s. The looser moderation means a meaningful share of fringe and conspiracy content sits next to legitimate creators, which is a brand consideration. Mobile apps work but are less polished. LBC token mechanics add friction for casual viewers.
Odysee is free for viewers. Creators earn LBC, which trades for fractions of a cent each. YouTube Premium is $144/year for ad-free viewing.
Creators who’ve already been demonetized on YouTube and want a backup channel. For most viewers and creators, Odysee is a secondary platform, not a primary one.
