FAQ
How do you decide something is dead vs zombie?
We mark something DEAD when the vendor has published an official end-of-life notice with a shutdown date that has already passed. DYING means the vendor announced a shutdown date that has not arrived yet. ZOMBIE means there is no formal shutdown notice, but there is public evidence the product is in maintenance mode or worse - layoffs, a frozen feature set, an official "no further investment" statement, or a sibling product being killed with no equivalent for this one. Zombies can keep running for years, or die tomorrow with no warning.
Where do the dates come from?
Every entry links to the vendor own announcement, changelog, support page, or help center article - not a news report or a rumor. If we cannot find a primary source, the app does not get listed as dead or dying. The confidence level noted internally for each entry reflects how directly the vendor stated the date.
My app isn't listed - is it safe?
Not necessarily. We track a curated list of shutdowns we have verified, not a live crawl of every company earnings call and support forum. No entry here just means we have not found a documented death notice for it yet - it could still be quietly losing investment, like the zombies above. Absence of evidence is not evidence of health.
What should I do if my app is dying?
Export your data before the shutdown date, not the week of. Check the listed successor or alternative first - vendors sometimes offer direct migration paths or discounts. If there is no official successor, treat the shutdown date as a hard deadline and start testing alternatives now, since migrations always take longer than expected.
How often is this updated?
This page was last verified in July 2026. We re-check dates as shutdown deadlines approach and add new entries as vendors announce them - but always confirm against the official source link before making an irreversible decision, like deleting local backups.
This tracker is a snapshot, not a guarantee - always confirm against the official source link before making an irreversible decision. Facts verified July 2026.
