What happens to my data when an app shuts down?
Export it before the shutdown date, not the week of. Most vendors offer a data-export tool in account settings until the day the service closes, and some (like the successors listed here) offer a direct import path. If there's no official successor, treat the shutdown date as a hard deadline - migrations always take longer than expected.
How often is this list updated?
Weekly. This page is synced from the same dataset that powers our Is My App Dying? checker, so new 2026 shutdown announcements and date changes show up here within days, not months.
What's the difference between 'dying' and 'dead' on this list?
DEAD means the shutdown date has already passed. DYING means the vendor announced a shutdown date that hasn't arrived yet - the countdown is still ticking. ZOMBIE means there's no official shutdown notice, but the product is showing every other sign of one: layoffs, a frozen feature set, or a vendor statement of no further investment.
