Shutdown tracker / Whip Media / TV & movie tracking
TV Time is gone. Your watch history does not have to be.
TV Time, the social show-and-movie tracking app, shut down on July 15, 2026. The company cited the cost of running a free app with too little conversion to a paid tier, alongside a broader pivot toward AI. A GDPR export tool let users pull their data before the app was removed from the stores.
Key dates

- Jul 2, 2026TechCrunch reports the shutdown; the GDPR data export tool opens
- Jul 15, 2026TV Time shuts down - removed from app stores, service ends
Why it happened: An unsustainable cost structure for a free app with not enough conversion to a paid plan; parent company Whip Media redirected resources toward AI.
What to switch to
Simkl
A free tracker with a built-in TV Time importer - drop in your export ZIP and your history lands.
Trakt
A mature tracking and sync platform; core features and the TV Time importer are free, VIP adds extras.
Kino
Re-imports an entire TV Time archive in one tap, covering series, movies and anime.
Hobi
Named by TV Time itself as an official migration partner, free to download.
Showly
A clean tracker with a small optional upgrade for extra themes and features.
Options listed alphabetically by fit, not ranked - pick by your constraint (price, stack, control). No winner is declared.
How to migrate
- Export your data now via the TV Time GDPR self-service tool if you have not already - it is gone after shutdown.
- Pick an importer-first alternative: Simkl or Trakt both accept the TV Time export ZIP directly.
- Re-follow the shows you track on social feeds - none of the TV Time follows carry over.
- Watch for Bingers, a new tracker from the original TV Time founder, expected by the end of July 2026.
